Note: This is my own view, my manuscript. If you don't like it, don't read it.
Hello Malaysian, how are you holding on?
Did you get the chance to catch the recent Maybank TVC on Rosdy dan anak-anak? Shame on you. It is a good conclusion of when the world appreciates Malaysia, Malaysia appreciates the world
I am personally upset with the move of hiring 300+ outsider to improve the English language. Are the decision maker trying to prove that our teachers aren't good enough? If you are saying taking 10 outsider to help our trainers in helping the teachers, it sounds reasonable. I believe we do have good quality teachers, they just need to be guided. We just need to look carefully and appreciate our local delights. There is no point in taking outsider yet ignoring our own talent.
Tan Zhong Shan did me proud. He did so well, when I first read his news in The Star, I was like OMG Mama, look! And the next few days article was a little annoying when Malaysian questioning why he is practicing in Singapore. Well, the think tank of Malaysia didn't grant him the scholarship, instead he won his way from Singapore, which explain. Sometime, we are too blinded by the world to actually notice the small insects in our own garden.
Sub Rosa by Nadiah Hamzah didn't make it at Festival Filem Malaysia - 23. Yeah, the so called FFM with tag line, "persada dunia". I bet the judge did no homework and didn't even know that Sub Rosa was selected in the Top 100 Short Films at the Young Cuts Film Festival! And the best part, she was named as a New Yorker as she is doing her Masters of Fine Arts (Film & TV) at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. Served the Malaysian right, we cannot be just looking at the tip of our nose, we have to look further and explore. Why not just give her the encouragement and support she must surely need at this challenging moment as a student. Or do we want to wait until she is successful and only then claim that she is Malaysian! In the same way we've made claims over Datuk Jimmy Choo, Dato' Michelle Yeoh and a host of others whom we chose to ignore when they were struggling?
There are so many bright Malaysian, but they are not highlighted because some of us are to amazed by the world that we have forgotten our own garden.
Later!
p/s: meritocracy and free competition is the only way for Malaysia
