Have you try budu with slices of onion and chili plus a squeeze of lemon?
Its yummy. Like super delicious to have with ikan bakar.
But budu comes from different part, just like belacan. There is belacan Terengganu, belacan Johor, belacan Sarawak. Although it is the same ingredient, the feeling is different.
For example, durian kampung is tastier than durian Thailand. Yet, tempoyak still taste almost the same regardless where durian comes from. You gotta agree with me that that some look forwards to tempoyak ikan patin, and some like me enjoys sambal tempoyak with ikan goreng.
Budu, belacan and tempoyak is 3 different thing that not tolerate by all but loved by most. We are blessed with variety of food which give variety of taste for diversity of human. Therefore, don't assume that someone who likes belacan likes budu too. Or expect a person who likes tempoyak enjoys patin. And be prepared that some who might like cencaluk now, yet might pick budu over it.
For me, I like belacan the most. Next, budu and tempoyak. It just add up my appetite. Thank you god for blessing me with your creation.
